Spring 2008 will see a number of memorable new London Tour Experiences.
BEATLEMANIA & SIXTIES SOHO
Take a trip back to Sixties London and uncover the location history of the fab four and hear the truth about their highly productive relationship. See the office of legendary Beatles Manager Brian Epstein (St James) Jermyn Street where John went on some of his notorious spending sprees. Scotch at St James where Jimmy ~Hendrix by Paul McCartney, the gallery where John met Yoko for the first time, the club where Paul met Linda take a stroll down Carnaby street see the London Palladium where one of John Lennon’s most immortal lines was spoken, and see the place where the “Na Na Na Nas” were recorded for Hey Jude in a soho alleyway. See the Broadwick Public Lavatory which John made famous in his own inimitable fashion. We finish outside Paul McCartney’s office in Soho Square. Find out the extraordinary story of the APPLE shop and the hysteria of those golden dying days of 1960’s London, and by way of a finale, visit the legendary location in Hanover Square where the Beatles made their last public performance with such immortal numbers as Get Back and Let it Be played from the top of the Apple Building building in Saville row. Hidden away from the busy main roads there exists a secret city of medieval streets, picturesque courtyards and ancient buildings. On this unique walk we thread our way through the alleyways and byways of old London to uncover an enchanting world where history was made and time stands still. From the "Holy Gloom" of London's oldest parish church (C1123), to the cloistered solitude of the City's only surviving medieval, monastic complex and on through a twisting warren of tucked away alleys, you will see a part of London that you would never dream could still exist.
You will see a 16th century gatehouse from which spectators once watched the fires of Smithfield; gaze upon the time worn stone of London's only surviving Tudor townhouse where Elizabeth 1st once stayed; you will see the spot where the Great Fire of London burnt itself out in 1666; and gaze upon the only statue of Henry V111 in the City. So join us for a journey through the magic of bygone London and witness the captivating pageantry as 2,000 years of plagues, fire, humour, tragedy and fascinating history unfolds before you.
